The game is launched after a banker is established. The game has three main betting: banker, player and equal. Players must wager that the player’s hand will win or bankers hand will win or that will be equal between the two of them. Once the bets have been placed, both player and banker receive a second-hand books. Cards are dealt from shoe, containing six decks of cards. The aim is to create a hand with a total score close to 9, without exceeding it.

According to the online Baccarat rules, cards are from 2 to 9 and are worth their numeric. 10, Jack, ladies and kings are worth zero points and Aces are worth one point. After receiving their hands, players must calculate their points. When the total value of cards in player‘s hand equals or exceeds 10, the figure of the left side of the number is removed. For example, a hand holding a 3 and 2 values  5 points. A hand holding 6 and 7 equal to 3. The first digit is eliminated because the initial total was more than ten. Interestingly enough, the game is named after the worst hand to play, which are worth zero. In Italian Baccarat means zero.
