In recent years many bingo halls have gone through periods of financial crisis, which led to the closure. Many of the bingo halls have suffered falls of levels.
A manager said because bingo club Edinburgh fell by 50 percent in two ani.This  explained how the tax increase is what makes survival difficult for operators numbers game.

Phil Thomson, manager of Royal Bingo Club in Edinburgh said the news that the duties of government is harmful bingo on an already fragile industry.
Due to the recession of last year and bans smoking in some places levels of attendance at bingo halls fell by around 50 percent.
Thomas also stated that in 2006 were about  1,500 people attended bingo games but has dropped almost in half reaching 700 people.
Although bingo halls are going through a most difficult situation  government has hit the industry hard bingo games increasing tax rates.
In Edinburgh right now there are eight bingo halls.
